Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027, Examination Notice No. 02/2027-ENGG.
This recruitment is important for the Hard of Hearing community because the notified PwBD vacancy distribution includes 6 vacancies for Hard of Hearing (HH) candidates.
This is not based only on a general PwBD statement. However, HH suitability differs by engineering service/post, so candidates must check Annexure-I of the official notification before choosing service preferences.

The PwBD distribution is:
- Locomotor Disability: 11 vacancies
- Hard of Hearing (HH): 6 vacancies

- Specific Learning Disability / Multiple Disabilities: 1 vacancy
Therefore, DeafJobsIndia classifies ESE 2027 as a confirmed Hard of Hearing recruitment opportunity.
Important: HH eligibility depends on the service/post
The Engineering Services Examination recruits candidates to several Group A and Group B engineering services and posts.
A candidate should not assume that HH is suitable for every ESE post.
UPSC provides a service-wise list of identified PwBD categories and functional requirements in Annexure-I. Hard of Hearing candidates should verify that the specific service/post they want is identified as suitable for HH before applying or submitting service preferences.
